What inspires you? Is it your everyday heroes like our military men and women, firemen, or policemen? Is it a family member? Even a special song? Whatever your inspiration, keep it close. The people that most inspire me came from nowhere special and made something of themselves. Or gave something so precious and priceless of themselves for another. Men and women lay their life on the line everyday for our freedom.
I love people who have their boots strapped on against all odds to follow the dreams in their heart. No matter how big the odds looked or the circumstances that were stacked against them, they never gave up. These people inspire me like crazy! The people that have dreams so big, others would just laugh. The road to the top was filled with heartbreak and failures. Can you imagine laying down all that you have hoped for, your future and your dreams to protect and serve your country and the man next to you, knowing full well that his mission could be his last. Freedom is not free. It costs lives of those brave men and women every day. These selfless acts are the definition of inspiration for me. They inspire me to do all I can with my freedom; not sit idling by, but to give it my best shot.
Here are some examples of those who inspire me:
Look at Adam Lambert. He was a 28 year old man living in Los Angeles trying to make it as a recording artist. No one knew who he was, but he had the guts to do whatever it took to follow his dream. He took the huge leap of faith and auditioned for American Idol. Since then, this guy, that no one had ever heard of, has released two chart topping albums, been on a world tour promoting his album, is an actor on the hit TV show Glee, and sings for the legendary band Queen! WOWZ! That to me is inspiration!
Another amazingly inspirational person is Dani Johnson. She grew up on welfare in a violently abusive home. She made a lot of really bad choices and by 20, ended up homeless with only $2.03 to her name and a $35,000 debt. I bet you can guess what’s next. She bootstrapped it baby! By 23, she had made her first million. Now she is a multi-millionaire, author, speaker, success coach, mother of five, and business woman with five companies. She has a heart to see others succeed wildly as she has. Featured on ABC’s Secret Millionaire, The Oprah Winfrey Show, The View, and many others, she has a proven track record of success through thousands of testimonials of people transforming there lives in the same way she did. She has certainly had a big impact on my life!
Take the band KISS. Yep, those guys that wear make up and spandex. Whether you like them or not, I know you have heard of them. They have been around 30+ years and have made themselves larger then life! They were just some guys from New York that had dreams of becoming rock stars. Now they have an arena football team and a whole KISS ARMY of fans. There are KISS conventions, cruises, and even a KISS wedding chapel. Paul Stanley the front man of KISS is even partially deaf on one side. How’s that for not making excuses!
One more quick one: Michael Jordan. He is the most successful basketball player in history. His statistics are unmatched still to this day. Did you know that his high school basketball coach benched him from actually playing on the team? Can you imagine the dream and desire he must have had, and couldn’t play unless someone got hurt? Look at him now. That is inspiring!
Wherever you find inspiration, use it to keep yourself strong when you feel like conquering the world and to keep yourself hopeful in the midst of your failures. The world is at your fingertips? What will you do with it?
